UPDATE - ***FIXED*** Fixed in a "dirty" way, by starting the computer in Safe Mode with command prompt, renaming "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\4.x.x.xx.x" folder and copying over another Windows Defender version files inside. Rebooted and the service started correctly...

Yep, tried Avast and Avira (not together) to mitigate the download problem with IE and Edge but to no avail, removed them via control panel + the dedicated tool for each, downloaded from the respective site.

Sorry, but i can't find Windows Defender in Windows Features, the only thing i have is Windows Defender Application Guard, but is disabled and grayed out since i don't have VT enabled under bios i suppose (at least, that's what it's referring to while i hover the link). Is there another way for...

Hi, i tried repair services, registry and file permissions; windows update, app store fix, and restore services to default startup. All this was done BEFORE opening this thread, and the error stayed the same... PS: Did also the reccomended steps of reparse point/enviroment variables fix befor...

Done, the problem remains. I still think the issue is related to error 87 while trying to start the windows defender antivirus service, but microsoft diagnostic is terrible (wrong parameter - doesn't give a clue about the issue...)...

[SOLVED] Error 0x80080643 on KB2267602 - Windows Defender Issues

Tried after a reboot, with no other apps running, and still nothing happens... no messages, no cpu/disk activity, nothing.... Nothing get logged in the event viewer too... seems like it's failing to start, due to the stoppd/not startable Windows Defender Antivirus service, but it's just a guess.
