Hi Tom, I was afraid you would say that. Thanks a million for this! I wonder if my drive is failing, I kept getting some corrupted files errors and did a check of the drive using HD sentinel but it reported everything was fine. Anyway, that'll teach me to do a system restore checkpoint next...

The problem started with Windows Update not working. "Errors found: Code 80080005 Windows Update encountered an unknown error." I think I have narrowed it down to the following root cause: my configuration registry database is corrupt. Here is my question: how do I fix my configuration...
