Re: MSI GT7020C will not boot at all after power port replacement & USB EX-HDD NOT DE
my electrician friend replaced it for me just recently....but after he did it, the machine will no longer power on.
Then he either did it wrong, or it was not the problem in the first place. If the connector worked before (but maybe needed a little wiggle) and now does not work at all, then it would seem it was done incorrectly, or something else was damaged during the repair.
Does it work with no battery installed?
I've tried different cables, different USB's
What do you mean by different USB's? Do you mean different ports on the notebook. They may be supported by the same hub.
Not sure what to suggest here as it seems you have tried everything already (different cables, different ports, devices on other computers).
I have heard on rare occasions, USB selective suspend feature causing external drives connectivity issues. I recommend disabling this option to see what happens.
From Power Options, to go Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting. Then under both On battery and Plugged in, change that to disabled, save your changes, reboot and see what happens. If still a problem, change those settings back to Enabled.
The thing that confuses me is you say thumb drives work fine. So the ports are working.
