System Manufacturer? ASRock Laptop or Desktop? Desktop Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom) FM2A85X Extreme4 OS ? (Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista) Windows Server 2022 standard x86 (32bit) or x64 (64bit)? x64 (Only for Vista, Windows 7) Service pack? What was original installed OS on system? I installed server 2022 on a fresh disk Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? purchased from retailer Age of system? (hardware) 9 years for the motherboard, processor and memory. drives are new Age of OS installation? one month Have you re-installed the OS? yes CPU AMD A10-6800K RAM (brand, EXACT model, what slots are you using?) 16GB on 4DIMMs, not sure of the brand Video Card built in Radeon MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop) ASRock FM2A85X Extreme4 Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this one) 750 watts, not sure of the brand Is driver verifier enabled or disabled? What security software are you using? (Firewall, antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, and so forth) Microsoft suite Are you using proxy, vpn, ipfilters or similar software? no Are you using Disk Image tools? (like daemon tools, alcohol 52% or 120%, virtual CloneDrive, roxio software) no Are you currently under/overclocking? I would suggest to take a look at the cooling of this system first. Insufficient heat transfer from the CPU might be the cause of overheating the RAM modules as well. Normal temps for this CPU are in idle: > 30/40 °C normal usage > 50/60 °C > max 75 °C.

It was due to powercfg hanging. The CPU was running at 100% all the time, though, I am not sure why the fan wasn't running harder. It stayed quiet the whole time. The patch that fixed the powercfg hanging solved everything.

It might be worth taking a look at the these settings..
