    Re: Wii Internet Connectivity Issues

    Hi John,

What's your subscribed bandwidth? How many wireless devices do you have that are connected to your router? How far is the Wii from your router?

When did it start acting up? How along ago?

Also, this could be interference from nearby electronic devices or small appliances, perhaps weak signal?

Okay....this is it for now. Sorry if I'd ask a few questions.

    Re: Wii Internet Connectivity Issues

Only the Wii + 1 desktop (Ethernet) were connected.

Chase (11) told me that someone hacked his Wii accounts and upon creating new accounts the connectivity issues began.

Verizon DSL is the obvious culprit -

Kids iin bed now. I'll call Verizon tomorrow.

    Thanks!

    Re: Wii Internet Connectivity Issues

Is your network secured with WEP (equivalent to a No Security at all) or not secured at all? That is a big No...No...sorry to say this. Your bandwidth is kind of low too.
    According from Nintendo site:
The Wii Console is compatible with the following Wireless Security standards:WEP
    WPA
    WPA-PSK (TKIP)
    WPA-PSK (AES)
    WPA2-PSK (AES) <===

    Re: Wii Internet Connectivity Issues

Thanks for the additional info. provided John. That must have been the issue why Wii was hacked, sorry about that.
Most of your nearby Wi-Fi neighbors are using WPA and WPA2. FYI....Windows 7 works so well with WPA2-AES encryption.

Can you change the network security to WPA2 if your wireless router and wireless devices can handshake with WPA2 of course?

    Re: Wii Internet Connectivity Issues

I've seen the settings inside the router - check a box, as I recall.

I don't have access to the modem right now - in kiddies room. I'll try the WPA2 setting tomorrow.

Thanks - didn't realize we were that vulnerable.

    Re: Wii Internet Connectivity Issues

Too vulnerable....... it's still not too late to make things right.

FYI....WPA has been hacked as well, your network will be secured and worry free with WPA2.

    Please keep us posted.
