    XP BSOD Posting Instructions

Feel free to use this, but please keep in mind there are a very limited number of BSOD analysts that will touch XP BSODs. Thank you.

Download these 2 files; save both to My Documents folder -

    1. Microsoft SysInternals AutoRuns - http://live.sysinternals.com/autoruns.exe

    2. System file collection app - http://www.sysnative.com/apps/BSOD_XP_v1.3_jcgriff2_PROD_Sysnative.exe

Go to My Documents folder and run #2. It will run #1.

Output = newly created folder in My Docs - Sys_XP_Support

Zip up the entire folder and attach to next post.

    Also -
    - Run Speccy - http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy
    - "File" | "Publish Snapshot" | Paste URL into your next post

The output for XP Home edition is limited; much more output for XP Pro & MCE.

    John

EDIT: I use this app to read the XP EVT logs on my Windows 7 x64 system -

Event Log Explorer - Windows event log management, security, system analyzer, archiver, report, backup tools - FSPro Labs

You just apply (send email, I think) & they give you keycode.

    Re: XP BSOD Posting Instructions

Thank you John! I've been wondering about using the other app on XP but didn't think it would work. This is really useful, some of my friends/family use XP so if they have BSOD issues, this will be so useful.

    Thanks again!

    Re: XP BSOD Posting Instructions

You'll find that XP Home produces very little output.

XP Pro & MCE - very different story.

However, I myself stay away from XP BSOD threads if at all possible because they usually are hardware related and I learned Windows under Vista; only ran XP for a very short period of time.
    LilBambi says thanks for this.
