I have had some strange issues with my computer recently leading to among, other things the Blue Screen of death. In no particular order:
My clean up programs are increasingly showing errors when I attempt to run them.
For example: I have a simple little clean up program called ATF Cleaner. When I try to run it checking
the recycle bin check box, I get an error message telling me "Cannot delete Desktop. The file
is corrupt and unreadable. It then goes on to clean whatever it cleans. ( I have tried deleting and reloading the recycle bin.)
I have another file cleaner called "Clean Desk Security" When I run that program, it now
flashes the same alert that ATF flashes. Additionally, I get a pop up telling me that my
backup drive has a corrupt and unreadable file: G:\Recycler\S-1-5-21-1296323943-1006 \desktop.ini and to run the Chkdsk utility.
I have run the Chkdsk /r, Chkdsk /f several times, to no avail. I tried deleting the file in the G Drive and the computer was not happy. I am now told every time I start the computer to hit any key to start for a CD, doing nothing, the computer starts up.
I also run Spyware Blaster and routinely am told the program will not run. I then run a program called
VBrun50sp5.exe which re-installs vbr. The program then runs fine, for awhile when I have to do the same thing again.
I tried reading about fixing the issue and was told to download Microsoft Fixit Malware tool and run it. I did
and got an error message telling me that an 80072F8F error was experienced trying to reach the server and to try again later. No change when I try again. My clock registers the correct date.
I have experienced the Blue screen issue but could not find any crash data in a file I was prompted to check on an online FAQ web site.
Finally, I notice that I often have a very busy process server that on occasion causes long pauses for whatever online activities I am doing. When I check the Task Manager, I can't figure out why the CPU is at 100%. It could be Microsoft trying to update. I say that only because I read that the 800 message error is often involved with updating Windows. However, I do not recall seeing any issues relating a failure to update as I have that set to automatic.
