BSOD - DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

I've been consistently getting BSODs for the past month after my computer sleeps/hibernates. My computer itself will stall constantly, i.e. every 20 seconds or so, and when I try to shut it down, it takes extremely long (30+ minutes) and then it'll BSOD. The error code is DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE and the needed files are included below. Not totally sure what to do to fix the problem. I ran the driver verifier and had no errors. I'll run HDD and RAM diagnostics and report back. Thank you so much for helping.

There seems to be two issues in the crashes in December (but this problem goes back to May) with perhaps one cause. The long power downs are related to USBHUB.SYS, The others (mostly PCI.SYS) are probably related to your HDAUDIO.SYS driver (2+ years old). The one thing I would do first is to remove and replace your Avast. Its just a gut feeling but With as many odd crashes as you have its an easy first step to do

Avast can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

    http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

I would then update the HDaudio driver. If the crashes still continue please run this and report back the sleep states supported.

Start>search>cmd>right clcik and run as admin> powercfg -a

Since your Tablets drivers are also ancient and in the USB bus I would make sure I updated them as well. To test if it is involved you can always remove the tablet to see if the situation changes.

What devices are on the USB bus?

I am assuming there is no overclock (if you dont know what it means you probably arent)

Re: BSOD - DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

I did both things you requested and am no longer having trouble with stalls/freezes after recovering from sleep/hibernate. MSE seems to be working just fine, and the audio drivers have been updated. I updated my tablet drivers too for kicks, although it's rarely connected to my computer. I'm wondering if I should re-install AVAST since it's prone to crashing windows on my computer.

My mouse (Razer abyssus) and iPhone are regularly connected via usb, but no other things.

    There is no overclock.

Thanks for being so helpful. It seems the problem is solved!
