    BSOD while playing Battlefield 3

I can't figure out whats causing this and it's driving me nuts.
I have never had any problems with this hardware set-up and the game itself,
so I'm thinking is a driver issue due to the recent re-install.

I have compiled all the necessary files

    Here are my specs:

    Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit retail
    8Gb RAM (4 x 2gb)
    AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2Ghz
    SapphirePURE CrossFireX 790GX

    Sapphire Radeon HD 4850X2 2Gb
    2 x Samsung HD103UJ 1TB HDD
    Thermaltake EVO BLUE 750W

All hardware is approx 4 years old and the OS was recently re-installed in April of this year.

Re: BSOD while playing Battlefield 3

Does it happen in any other games or just BF3?

    Looking at the last 3 2 are CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (109) the third PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

I would D/L Memtest+ burn it to a CD using a free program like Imgburn if you need one then boot from the CD to test the ram, or D/L and use the Auto-installer for USB key, let it run for at least 6 passes or until you see an error.

The driver list is pretty clean.

I ran memtest and yes, it failed...DAMN. I was hoping it was a driver issue. Thanks for the speedy response. I'll have to spend next saturday figuring out which of the sticks it is. and yes, it only ever crashed while playing BF3. Thanks again for your help.

Re: BSOD while playing Battlefield 3

Probably it was happening on BF3 cuz it was the only application you've been using that happened to "reach" the bad memory, in that it allocated enough memory that it started touching the bad portion. If that's the case, it's probably occurring from either the 2nd or 3rd stick of RAM. Might be the 4th, but given Windows always shoves all its junk in the highest region of memory, and you haven't been experiencing crashes any other time but BF3, it isn't likely. Still, it is best to test them all, but probably start with 2nd/3rd ones first.
    Patrick says thanks for this.

Good man vir, it was indeed the 3rd stick, but I didn't have to do much to find this out as, when it Blue Screened the last and final time, I glanced inside and noticed the led's on the third stick (Crucial Ballistix Tracer) were all on on one side (which is unusual) so I started with that stick and voila, problem sorted. Thanks again guys, as that was driving me up the bl@@dy wall...Now I'm happily playing BF3 without problems.

Well ain't that somethin. I wasn't aware RAM sticks had LEDs now! Glad to hear it's all good.
