Re: XP BSOD (Bluescreen) - atapi.sys?

It does look like a bad disc, set the burn speed to the slowest for best results next time. Also close the disc in the options.

May be a bad CD drive or controller goes along with the Atapi.sys error earlier, can you burn it on your laptop?

It was a brand new TDK disc. Will that one be useless now?

Depends on if there was any thing actually burn to the disk, sometimes it will still be of use since the disk may not have been closed.

OK, shall I try again? I can try my laptop (assuming running Windows 7 makes no difference?)

Re: XP BSOD (Bluescreen) - atapi.sys?

OK, I think I've done that OK on my laptop.

Do I need to check my BIOS to make sure it will boot to a CD? Otherwise, do I just leave the CD in and reboot the machine?

Re: XP BSOD (Bluescreen) - atapi.sys?

Sometimes tapping F12 while booting will give you a 1 time boot menu to chose the cd drive, if not you'll have to enter the bios by tapping F2 on boot and set the CD drive as the first boot device.

132 Command Error Command Aborted. Please ensure that you are using the version of diagnostic utility corresponding to either newer or older Western Digital drives.
Do you know if it is a IDE or a Sata drive?

Drive Not Ready Error/Status code: 0104, usually means a Physical drive problem(failing drive) Could be PCB issues or could be a bad or weak head or drive motor.

Re: XP BSOD (Bluescreen) - atapi.sys?

So does that mean that I need to replace the hard drive?

If so, I guess it's a chance to put a bigger one in....

Re: XP BSOD (Bluescreen) - atapi.sys?

Yes, but the error on the ADPTI.sys which is the CD drive bothers me that it may be more involved, however the only way to know for sure is to try another drive.
