    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

Well, I'd try it but typically the PC bsods within 20-30 minutes so I doubt I could get much out of the stress test, not sure. But thank you for the link.

I'm personally thinking about taking it to a repair shop, just dunno when I'll have the funds to do so and the time, but I shall see.

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

Okay so, I opened up the PC, I pulled out my GPU and it seems perfectly fine, no busted capacitors or anything of that sort, gave it a good cleaning, when I got it back in I looked at my Network card and I noticed that two of the black cylinders were bent out of place,...is it possible I just found the problem?

See, the more I think about it I think that the cause of the problem is the network card, I had one blue-screen on the lock screen, and I also had a blue screen after the PC was idle for awhile, I got on it after an accidental nap, as soon as I opened up a tab on my steam overlay to check my G-mail, it crashed. (that was the red screen crash)
And I also had an instance where when I booted the PC, it was not picking up a network connection. It took about 10-15 seconds to get one.

I've also had the connection be very unstable, having the modem lose connection. And it only seems to happen if I'm using the PC. (The modem is connected to the PC via Ethernet). The past few days with the PC not being in use the internet has been perfectly fine. What do you guys think???

Do you have a wifi dongle you could use as a test for a few days?

I do not think so. I do have a wifi thing but its an adapter more-so then a dongle that is currently being used on this PC (I'm on my familys PC)

That's what I meant, because it would be nice to test if that's really it.

I think I could. My plan was originally to just take the network card out and try and run the PC (with no connection) and see what would happen.

I'll see what they think. Should I take the card out or leave it in though?

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

If you can pull it out, pull it out. Let's see how the system behaves without it.

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

Yeah I can take it out, its actually a replacement card I got for the PC (A thunderstorm was going on and it wound up frying the original adapter that came with the PC)
So I can pull it out pretty easily, just gotta unscrew and take it out!

I'll then try to run the system and see what happens, I'll report back if anything happens.

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

Alright, well the PC came up with no issue. I'm going let it idle for about 20 minutes then hop on a game in offline mode and stress test the card. The blue-screens seemed to occur within 20 minutes or up to an hour or two so I am going monitor it and see if anything happens.

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

If you happen to crash again I can install WinDbg and take a look.

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

Sounds good to me, so far I haven't had a crash. I let it idle for about an hour then I played a fairly intensive game to see how the GPU is doing, no crashes occurred and still haven't at the moment. I don't want to say that the issue is solved because the blue screens in the past have been very un-common or very...random. As I said before I'm very sure that it was the damaged network card/adapter/port thing, don't know the term xP

I'm planning on letting it run over night to see if anything happens.

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

Fwiw, you probably won't crash if the system is idle. Just use it normally over the next few days.

  15. #115

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

True, I mention the system being idle as I've had it crash like that a lot of the time when I'm asleep and its not in use. But I'll see what I can do, as I don't have a network connection on it currently (or a spare wifi adapter to use) so I'm pretty limited to what I can do, besides playing an offline game or something along those lines

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

System ran fine. No crashes, I ordered a new network card last week and just got it today. Going to go ahead and put it in and see if there is any changes persay. If anything happens I'll report back, then try and use a wireless adapter. (Cause if it crashes at that point my mind would think its the slot that I'm installing it into)

    Re: [8.1] Random/Frequent ntoskrnl.exe BSOD's

Well then, the system ran fine for two weeks after installing the card and I got the blue screen again... same error code, critical structure corruption...at this point I'm pretty stumped, what can we do?

I'm just upset now, thought I fixed it but apparently not. Here is the dump file if its any help.

Crashed again when I was asleep, seems to be back at square one.
