Been monitoring this as i play in CMS 18 today, i was able to reproduce the crash 3 times on low settings just through normal play, and then it stopped again. CPU temps were all in low 30s and GPU temps were all at about 50% power and low 50's temp, this is all with V sync on. Turning the settings up to medium put CPU to high 30's and GPU power to low 60's and temps of 40 ish. It has not crashed at the higher settings so i do feel with what i am seeing temp of CPU and GPU does not apear to be the issue here. Power load from low to medium did not cause a reboot even though more power must be being drawn through the psu. Temps and load do not seem the crucial factor as low settings affected it. Ideas?

This is very strange as I haven't been able to reproduce a single crash on my system in CMS. Could you try another game like Witcher/GTA or really anything taxing you have at your disposal?

Re: Computer rebooting during gaming no crash reports

It is not CMS18 causing it, it happens in most games but as stated it happens a few times then just stops, earlier today 3 reboots then, 8 hours gaming no issue at all. Dark and light is much more demanding yet today it was fine in that game, on other days it has rebooted in that game. I do not think it is game or load related, if it were i would be able to reproduce it every time in more demanding situation, but it is not always that case, can be high demand or low demand...? Something weird for sure

Re: Computer rebooting during gaming no crash reports

Well, basically I want to stress the GPU, so it would either show artifacts (bad GPU) or simply reboot the system, in which case I'd be inclined to believe it's the PSU + it will test the thermals.
Keep an eye on the temps at all times!

Is the electricity in your house okay? I had the same issue with intermittent crashes and reboots under load. Turned out to be a faulty extension cord.

I am plugged into a new UPS i could replace the power cable from that to the comp but no reason for it to have become corrupted, never had a power cable break down lol. I Got an UPS as i was having bsod about 5 months ago, that stopped 5 months ago, there is a post a couple down from this about that, but i don't feel there is any connections except the intermittent part :) maybe have a look at all that see if anything triggers a thought?

Re: Computer rebooting during gaming no crash reports

The only piece of hardware that comes to mind that can shut a system down and leave no trace - PSU.

Get another PSU (beg, borrow or buy one - then return it) and swap it out. Make sure it has enough power for your rig.

The mobo could be involved as well, but I would say to try the PSU swap out first.

I have a 12 inch fan blowing into the open side right now to eliminate that, i have 2 120mm intake fans and 1 exhaust, i do have room for a fan on top, but it would interfere with airflow for cpu fan i think.

Each system is different on Windows Updates, depending if other Microsoft apps are installed like Office.

If you've gone through control panel; installed what's there; all installed (v. failed) - I'm sure that you're OK.

Re: Computer rebooting during gaming no crash reports

Forgot to ask - any luck finding a temp replacement PSU?

We can sit here and talk about software all day, but I think your system problem is unknown hardware failure.

I would start with the PSU given the shut off that you have described like the plug being pulled from the wall.

Re: Computer rebooting during gaming no crash reports

Thanks for the help so far :) i do agree PSU is the most likely cause of these situations, i will have to order a new one nowhere in this town stocks anything that high, one horse border town. Hence the tryin to eliminate the need to spend the cash on something that may not be the cause but heading into that realm soon i feel.

    To recap...
The computer reboots only during gaming and only sometimes.
It will run fine with a heavy load or light and then decide to reboot for a few times even under lighter gaming loads it is not rrepeatable by playing a demanding game over a non.
It has rebooted on 3 different games, CMS18 Fractured space, and dark and light which is the most demanding (just played 4 hours no problem there)
It has never rebooted on Farming sim 17 which now is more demanding than cms 18
I have run CPU stress test all passed
I have run several different GPU tests, all passed
I have run memtest 8 passes, no errors.
I did get it to reboot by running Prime95 AND Furmark at the same time.. would i expect it to reboot under those loads anyway or does that point to PSU?
It will stop doing it for a few days, then as i start to feel maybe... it will reapear... hate that part most!
I cannot force it to do it through game play even by cranking stuff up, it decides when it will do it.
