    Question BSOD while shutting down for restarting

    OS -Windows 10 pro x64
    What was original installed OS on system? No
    Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Retail version
    Age of system (hardware) ~3 years
    Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? ~1 year, no.
    CPU Intel core i7 3630QM @ 2.40GHz
    Video Card Intel HD Graphics 4000 + 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M
    System Manufacturer Asus
    Exact model number N56VB

    The report from SysnativeFileCollectionApp anonymised Attachment 24057 (For example, there's stuff in hosts file that would reveal information about me and my PC I do not want to reveal.)

    I can't generate the perfmon report. I keep getting this:
    The wait for the report generation tool to finish has timed out.
    Unexpectedly, there's no log in the event viewer of the critical shutdown nor the log of the error summary.

    This BSOD happened during a reboot sequence while the OS was executing the Shutdown.
    I do not remember the sys file but the error was something of sorts:
    "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"

    I don't know if this helps:
    For some reason, it seemed like a program had reserved the sound driver all to itself. I was not hearing sounds from anywhere I could generate on the PC, that's why I tried rebooting to see if it would solve the problem.

    From the system logs, I have some references that suggest audiodg.exe could be at fault. No errors, though.

    Re: BSOD while shutting down for restarting

    Hi,

    did not see a named driver, only a systemdriver portcls.sys & this is a windows-driver.

    however you are running a Ramdfive, Virtualbox and an outdated Rapid storage (Intel) may be from Win7 update?

    after all, as your system thought to go down after 6 days of runtime, might be a oneshot failure.
    System Uptime: 6 days 7:25:08.868

    otherwise
    Code:
    BiosMajorRelease = 4
    BiosMinorRelease = 6
    BiosVendor = American Megatrends Inc.
    BiosVersion = N56VB.202
    BiosReleaseDate = 01/21/2013
    SystemManufacturer = ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
    SystemProductName = N56VB
    SystemFamily = N
    SystemVersion = 1.0
    SystemSKU = ASUS-NotebookSKU
    BaseBoardManufacturer = ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
    BaseBoardProduct = N56VB
    BaseBoardVersion = 1.0
    if Asus has a newer Bios, get it.

    needed any longer? if not get rid of it, else look for an update.

    provide a new dump if available and a new bsod occurred.

    Thank you for helping.
    portcls.sys is the one reported for failing. I was not remembering the name when I posted but I recognize it.

    may be from Win7 update
    I think so. I updated from windows 7.

    after all, as your system thought to go down after 6 days of runtime, might be a oneshot failure.
    7-15 days of runtime is the usual I do, though.

    if Asus has a newer Bios, get it.
    The Jan 2013's BIOS is the latest one.

    needed any longer?
    I don't think so. How do I get rid of it safely so I can bring back in case I was wrong?
    I believe it should have been deleted when I uninstalled a previous version of the program...

    make a Systemrestorepoint, you have max 90 days to revert but you should know if you need it;
    if not a newer one is avail, keep in mind to eliminate it; as well of any other program you did not run within 90 / 180 days.

    Re: BSOD while shutting down for restarting

    you should better remove (uninstall)
    Ramdrive <-- might be more critical, Virtualbox and Update an outdated Rapid storage (Intel) or uninstall this software.

    Vodafone is only mentioned because most people don't know what is left over / forgotten Software.

    If a new BSOD occurs, upload it.
