[SOLVED] Problem with USB drives

I shut down win7 updates AND telemetry back in 2015. That, as you may recall, was when microsoft was secretly downloading win10 to our machines and then trying to trick us into installing it. Remember checking the "dismiss" box and the thing would install anyway?

Yes, plodr, 1,084 to be exact. Mostly math, science and engineering programs, simulators, emulators, modelers, robot programmers and such. I would hate having to reinstall even a fraction of those. And as I said, I also have a separate win10 machine, but I don't like using it. I hate the user...

OK, I did an actual restart. No joy. I tried sfc /scannow. Found problems but could not fix them all. Another restart. Nope. Did not use DISM as I am using Windows 7. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Nope. Ran SFCFix.exe: SUMMARY: Some corruptions could not be fixed automatically...

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried restarting, but not a total cold shutdown with unplugging power. I will try that when get the time in my work flow.
